Astrid Gerrits is an accredited mediator, Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner and social worker with more than 30 years’ experience working with individuals, couples, families, workplaces and communities. Originally from the Netherlands, she has practised in Australia for the past 18 years, based in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
Astrid’s work spans family dispute resolution, workplace mediation and restorative practice. She has extensive experience supporting people through separation, parenting arrangements, workplace conflict, organisational disputes and complex interpersonal relationships. Working across metropolitan, regional and remote settings has strengthened her ability to adapt her approach to diverse communities, cultures and contexts.
Restorative Practice underpins Astrid’s approach to mediation. She believes that durable outcomes are more likely when people feel heard, respected and able to participate meaningfully in difficult conversations. Her practice combines a structured mediation process with a strong understanding of relationship dynamics, communication and conflict.
Alongside her mediation practice, Astrid has designed and delivered Restorative Practice training for mediators, Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners, social workers, educators and organisations across Australia. She is passionate about strengthening the quality of conflict resolution practice and supporting practitioners to work with confidence, curiosity and integrity.
