You are cordially invited to a VADR CPD Zoom event at 6pm on Thursday 3 September 2026. The speaker will be Chris Siemers, a Senior Ombudsman (Banking and Finance) with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority.
Chris will provide an overview of AFCA’s new approaches to family violence and the financial abuse of older people. The session will explore how AFCA responds to complaints involving vulnerability and abuse, with a focus on trauma-informed practice, consumer safety, and fair outcomes for victim-survivors.
About the Speaker
Chris has more than 14 years’ experience in external dispute resolution, specialising in complex banking and financial complaints involving financial hardship and vulnerability, including family violence. With a background as a therapist and having worked as a financial counsellor in regional Victoria, Chris has seen first-hand how financial stress, health challenges and family violence can intersect.
Chris’s focus is grounded in fairness, compassion and systemic awareness, recognising that behind every case is a person working to rebuild their sense of safety, stability and control.
