Fernando Gallieto

Fernando Gallieto is a practising lawyer and a nationally accredited mediator. He is also admitted as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand. Since becoming a nationally accredited mediator with VADR in 2019, Fernando has conducted over 100 hours of mediations. He has presented during the National Mediation Conference on a topic regarding the inherent biases of mediators.

Mediation

Fernando supports parties to evaluate and articulate their positions and to appreciate the perspectives of others. Through this approach, Fernando helps people in conflict or dispute to enter a meaningful decision-making process. Fernando mediates by allowing parties to gain control over the outcome of the mediation and develop their relationships into the future.

Areas of Practice

Currently, Fernando works mainly with property disputes, his work ranging from claims against the Titles Office to opposing applications for injunctive relief. In addition, he mediates disputes involving investors in failed property ventures and parties to estate proceedings.

Fernando’s mediation practice also covers a broad range of commercial disputes. He has co-mediated referrals from the Victorian Small Business Commissioner in commercial tenancy disputes and other court-ordered mediations.

Legal

Fernando is an in-house lawyer at the Victorian Bar, practising mainly in commercial and company law. He is well versed in general commercial disputes involving contract, ACL, property law, debt recovery and enforcement. He has also mediated in areas relating to intellectual property, media, domain names, partnerships, the Corporations Act, and building and construction.
