David BrysonDavid is an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) consultant who has over 25 years of experience as a workplace facilitator, mediator, conciliator, trainer, dispute resolution adviser and executive coach. His clients have been from all sectors: business, tertiary, government, health, and non-government organisations. He is a Conciliation Officer and head of Professional Development with the Victorian Accident Compensation Conciliation Service. David’s academic background includes postgraduate degrees from Oxford University (Social Anthropology), and RMIT, Melbourne (Business Studies-Organisational Change). 

David was an ADR consultant to the Australian Energy Market Operator’s (AEMO). He was Assistant Commissioner with the Victorian Equal Opportunity Commission and President of the Mediation Association of Victoria. He established the state-wide community-based mediation scheme in Victoria in 1986. He is Principal Examiner for the Law Institute of Victoria’s Mediation Specialisation program, and External Consultant to the Melbourne University’s Residential Colleges and Halls in relation to harassment and discrimination matters. David is a member of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal’s Mediator Panel.

David has participated in committees, working parties and conferences that have led to significant mediation initiatives in Australia. From 1996-2000 David was a member of the Federal Attorney-General’s National Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisory Council (NADRAC), where he convened the Council’s committee that produced a seminal report on ADR standards in Australia. He has written widely on mediation practice and theory and is an editorial consultant to Bond University’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Bulletin and a member of the Bond University Dispute Resolution Centre’s Advisory Board.

David provides training in conflict management, strategic negotiation and facilitation with Resolve Advisors, and tailored workshops in conciliation. He teaches Global Negotiation in the Masters of Law program, Universite Catholique de Lyon, France.

David has facilitated meetings for public consultation, community conflicts, organisational and business team building. In the indigenous field David has provided facilitation for the Land Justice Group, Right People for Country Project and the Premier's Aboriginal Advisory Council (PAAC) Reference Group in Victoria. He has assisted health agencies and government departments in Victoria in matters related to service delivery to Aboriginal communities.

David received the 2014 LEADR/IAMA Award for Significant Contribution to Dispute Resolution in Australia.
