Christine McCarthy
I am an accredited mediator with LEADR and have National Mediation Accreditation. I am on the Panel of Mediators with the Dispute Settlement Centre of Victoria.
I am also an Ombudsman at the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). FOS provides an alternative dispute resolution mechanism to litigation in the banking, financial services and insurance markets. I have adjudicated and mediated insurance disputes for FOS since 2007. From this role, I also bring to mediation the perspective of a decision maker.
I worked as Senior Legal Counsel at Worksafe. In that role, I was part of a small team managing all of Worksafe’s litigation. I attended many Court ordered mediations, settlement conferences and Judicial Settlement Conferences and have a deep understanding of what a client needs from mediation.
Before joining Worksafe I was a partner at Cornwall Stodart lawyers specialising in insurance law, and other commercial litigation. My clients included Worksafe, TAC, and other National general insurers and reinsurers.
I am a graduate of the University of Melbourne with a Master of Laws specialising in Insurance law, Torts law and Alternative Dispute Resolution
